PUBLICATION ETHICS
Commitment to Ethical Publishing
Jurnal Pendidikan Indonesia (JUPI) upholds the highest standards of academic integrity and ethical publishing. The journal adheres to the Core Practices of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) to ensure transparency, credibility, and accountability throughout the scholarly publishing process.
Allegations of Misconduct
Types of Misconduct
- Plagiarism: Use of others’ work without proper attribution.
- Fabrication: Making up data or research findings.
- Falsification: Manipulating research materials or results.
- Authorship Misconduct: Ghost or honorary authorship.
- Undisclosed Conflict of Interest: Failure to disclose relevant relationships.
Reporting and Investigation
Allegations may be reported by authors, reviewers, readers, or whistleblowers. All reports are handled confidentially. The editorial board conducts impartial investigations, which may include expert consultation, data review, and clarification from involved parties.
Corrective Actions
- Article retraction
- Correction or erratum publication
- Author sanctions
- Notification to affiliated institutions
Authorship and Contributorship
Authorship must be based on substantial intellectual contributions to research design, data analysis, interpretation, and manuscript preparation. Authors must:
- Contribute significantly to the research
- Approve the final manuscript
- Accept responsibility for the integrity of the work
Honorary and ghost authorship are strictly prohibited. Minor contributors should be acknowledged appropriately.
Complaints and Appeals
Complaints regarding editorial decisions, peer review, ethical violations, or misconduct may be submitted via the journal’s official email. All complaints are treated confidentially and assessed objectively.
If dissatisfaction remains after investigation, an appeal may be submitted with additional supporting evidence. An independent evaluation will be conducted before issuing a final decision.
Conflicts of Interest
All authors, reviewers, editors, and publishers must disclose any financial, personal, academic, or institutional relationships that may influence their objectivity.
- Authors: Must disclose conflicts upon submission.
- Reviewers: Must decline review if impartiality is compromised.
- Editors: Must recuse themselves from conflicted submissions.
- Publishers: Must ensure editorial independence.
All relevant disclosures will be published alongside the article.
Data Availability and Reproducibility
Authors are encouraged to make research data accessible to promote transparency and reproducibility.
- Quantitative data should be deposited in recognized repositories.
- Qualitative research must clearly describe methods and sources.
- All datasets must be properly cited.
Detailed methodology must be provided to allow replication of findings.
Ethical Oversight
- Human Research: Requires informed consent and ethics committee approval.
- Animal Research: Must comply with ethical treatment standards.
- Vulnerable Populations: Must follow strict ethical safeguards.
- Confidentiality: Manuscripts and reviews remain confidential.
Intellectual Property
Authors retain copyright while granting JUPI a non-exclusive right to publish the work.
All articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike (CC-BY-SA) license.
Plagiarism Screening
All submissions are screened using plagiarism detection software (Turnitin). Manuscripts exceeding 25% similarity will be rejected.
Redundant Publication
Manuscripts under review elsewhere or substantially overlapping with previously published works will not be considered.
Post-Publication Discussion and Corrections
JUPI encourages constructive scholarly dialogue after publication.
- Letters to the Editor: May be submitted for editorial review.
- Corrections: For minor errors not affecting conclusions.
- Revisions: For substantial scientific corrections.
- Retractions: For serious misconduct or ethical violations.
Compliance and Periodic Review
JUPI regularly reviews its ethical policies to align with international best practices in scholarly publishing. The editorial board monitors developments in data integrity, authorship standards, peer review, open access, and digital preservation to ensure long-term accessibility and academic credibility.
